The labrum is a ring of cartilage around the acetabulum that provides stability and cushioning. Tears can result from trauma, repetitive movements, or underlying hip deformities (e.g., FAI).
Symptoms
Sharp, stabbing pain in the groin or outer hip.
Locking, clicking, or catching sensation during movement.
Stiffness and reduced range of motion.
Diagnosis
Physical Examination: Pain elicited by hip flexion and rotation.
MRI with Contrast: Gold standard for detecting labral tears.
